Our next spay day event is scheduled for Sunday, February 28, 2010  Pre-registration is necessary.  The cost is $15.00 per cat and $20.00 per dog.  This is for lower-income persons in the community and you must qualify to participate.  All owners need be present at time of sign up -- sorry, you may not sign up other persons cat(s) or dog(s).   Photo ID is required.  Payment in full is due at time of sign up.  Sorry, no refunds!   Qualifications include: 

*unemployment (bring 2008 W-2 or 1040 form)
*food stamps/medicaid (bring card or voucher slip)
*social security (bring 2008 Benefit form or 1040 form)
*disability (bring W-2 form or 1040 form)
*low-income (bring W-2 form / earning under $20,000)
*full time students
*military leave

Pre-registration and sign up dates & times at our shelter (while event space is still available):

Monday, February 1st, from 10:00 - 3:00 pm
Wednesday, February 03rd from 10:00 - 3:00 pm & 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Thursday, February 04th from 10:00 - 3:00 pm

**The next and FINAL sign up day will be Monday, February 08th, from 10:00 - 3:00**

 Payment is due at the time of pre-registration.  Pre-registration is only done at the Pet Refuge shelter.  For further questions, please call our shelter office at 574-256-0886 between 10:00 - 3:00 during weekdays.

Our Spay day held on March 25, 2007, was another success!  We, along with the Vets and Vet Techs who donated their time, spayed and neutered "46 cats" and "31 dogs".

Spay Day event on October 15th:  Due to the continued overwhelming need, we had our second "spay day event" on October 15th where "37 dogs" and "59 cats" from the community were spayed and neutered!  A very special "thank you" to the Vets and Vet Techs at Kryder Vet Clinic for their help with this special day. An extra special thank you to the volunteers of Pet Refuge who gave up yet another day away from their families to help with this event!

PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO HELP SPAY OR NEUTER A CAT OR DOG IN OUR COMMUNITY.

ON FEBRUARY 12, 2006  OUR FIRST SPAY DAY WAS HELD. 24 DOGS & 73 CATS FROM THE COMMUNITY WERE SPAYED & NEUTERED.  THIS HELPED MANY FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITY THAT WERE UNABLE TO NORMALLY AFFORD THIS PROCEDURE TO BE DONE.

A DONATION TO OUR SPAY DAY WILL HELP REDUCE THE OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM OF CATS & DOGS  IN OUR COMMUNITY.
