ETTA

“Our Nevada Kitty”

On Wednesday, July 21, Pet Refuge received an e-mail from a vet in Henderson, Nevada, that someone had rescued a cat that was being tormented by some neighborhood kids and brought it to her clinic. When she examined the cat and scanned it for a microchip, she found a chip that was registered to Pet Refuge. Since we were unable to contact the person who had adopted Etta in 2005, we decided to make every effort to bring Etta back to Indiana.  The vet very generously offered to update Etta’s vaccinations and board her until we could make further arrangements – all as a donation to Pet Refuge.

And today, July 30, Etta arrived at the South Bend airport! A Pet Refuge volunteer picked her up in Nevada on her way back from volunteering at Best Friends in Utah and brought her back to Indiana. Etta was not only a wonderful travel companion on the plane, she also enjoyed the attention from the camera crews at the airport and is now resting comfortably in her new foster home. After some beauty sleep and a good meal, Etta will be available for adoption at Petsmart on Saturday, July 31st.

Etta is a 5 year old, front declawed kitty. She loves to be held and cuddled – and even after 6 hours on a plane and now being in a new home, she was still purring loudly as she was settling into her new bed.

Road Construction Update
Parts of 6th Street and Milburn are currently closed due to construction. However, we are still having regular adoption events at the shelter and it is still possible to access the shelter parking lot if you take Lincolnway to Russell (there is a traffic light) and turn South on Russell. Go across the railroad tracks and make an immediate left turn onto 6th Street. The Pet Refuge parking lot will be on your left side.

ADOPTION FEE SPECIAL:

Our adoption fee for kittens has been temporarily reduced to $100 – so please come in and check out our sweet and playful kittens at one of our upcoming adoption events. This fee includes a microchip, FELV testing, and all age appropriate shots. And all of our cat and kittens are already spayed/neutered prior to adoption. So you are not only getting a healthier kitten, but it's also a much better deal than a "free" kitten.
